Byrnes Comes Up Short Against St. Thomas Aquinas

by Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle

Sometimes #1 vs. #2 doesn't live-up to the hype...St. Thomas Aquinas and Byrnes did Friday night before a national TV audience on ESPNU. With 15,000 in Lockhart Stadium, top-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas carried the banner for Florida football with a 42-34 win over #2 Byrnes.

While the final score was close, according to the Miami Herald it was a couple of first half Raider touchdowns that kept the Rebels fighting an uphill battle.

I am the father of an Aquinas Senior. I was at the game tonight. Byrnes lost the game, but earned the respect of St. Thomas' fans. Byrnes kept up with St. Thomas and never gave up. Thanks for a spectacular football game.
